This was my second play of The Expanse. I agree with some of the criticisms that the theme is kind of not there that much. I think at least some of the cards are thematic, but it does feel “pasted on” to an extent.
Nevertheless, as a fan of the show, I played it with other fans of the show and everyone enjoyed it quite a bit. It’s a very “pure” area control game, with a twilight struggle-like action point/faction event system but for up to 4p. If there’s a downside, I would say that it is a bit more lengthy than I would’ve liked. To me, it’s worth it. I’ve heard others call it boring though.
I’m looking forward to playing it again.
